Jiho Inc. Privacy Policy

Jiho Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “we,” “us” or the like) has established this Privacy Policy to protect your Personal Data (as defined in Article 16, Paragraph 3 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003), hereinafter referred to as the "Personal Information Protection Act") held by us in connection with our services, in accordance with applicable laws and other relevant laws, regulations and guidelines in line with our corporate social responsibility as follows:

1. Personal Information to be collected

When providing our services, we will collect the following Personal Information (as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Information Protection Act) from you.

Name, date of birth, address (including country, state/prefecture, etc., city/town/village, and region), postal/zip code, etc., telephone number, fax number, email address, credit card number, company name, industry type, organization/job title, length of service at your company, resume and work preferences of job seekers, user ID and password

2. Purpose of use of collected Personal Information

We use your Personal Information for the following purposes. In addition, we may handle Personal Information for reporting and writing purposes in publications and electronic media.

(1) Providing subscribers with printed publications, including newspapers, magazines and books;

(2) Providing subscribers with electronic media and database information;

(3) Advertising in printed publications, including newspapers, magazines and books, and on the internet;

(4) Organizing various seminars, events, etc.;

(5) Conducting questionnaires and surveys for marketing targeted at readers etc.;

(6) Managing and licensing of intellectual property including copyright etc.;

(7) Promoting and conducting solicitation for our various services, handling inquiries, and providing other customer services;

(8) Promoting and conducting solicitation by us regarding our partners' various services, handling inquiries, etc. (we do not provide Personal Data to our partners);

(9) Conducting business relationship management (using the names of personnel at business contacts for communications related to transactions); and

(10) Managing employees, job seekers etc., and implementing personnel measures.

We may change the above purposes of use within a scope reasonably considered to be related to the purposes of use before such change. In such cases, we will notify you or announce the changed purposes of use on our website, etc.

3. Secure management of Personal Data

We take the necessary and appropriate measures to securely manage your Personal Data including preventing the divulgence, loss and damage thereof.

4. Provision of Personal Data to third parties

We will not provide your Personal Data held by us to third parties without obtaining your consent in advance, except in the following cases:

(1) When pursuant to laws or regulations;

(2) When necessary for the protection of life, limb, or property, in cases where obtaining prior consent for such provision is impractical;

(3) When particularly necessary for improving public health or the well-being of children, in cases where obtaining prior consent for such provision is impractical;

(4) When cooperating with government agencies, local government or authorized entities in accordance with legal obligations, in cases where obtaining prior consent for such provision may interfere with the execution of such affairs; and

(5) When providing information such as your name, address, email address, phone number, and information related to your internet usage environment, to the credit card issuer used by you, for the purpose of the detection and prevention of fraud by such credit card issuer.

5. Outsourcing of Personal Data processing

We may outsource the handling of Personal Data held by us to third parties within Japan to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use specified in Article 2 above. When outsourcing such handling, we will conduct the necessary and appropriate management and supervision of the parties to whom the handling is outsourced to ensure the Personal Data is securely managed.

6. Rights regarding Personal Data

If we receive a request from you stating that we are to disclose, correct, cease using, delete or conduct similar handling of your Personal Data held by us, we will verify your identity and respond in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and our internal rules. Please note that a fee of 1,000 yen (including tax) will be charged for requests for the disclosure of Personal Data. For details on the procedures, please contact the inquiry desk mentioned in Article 10 below.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA, which consists of all EU member states, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), you have the following rights regarding the processing of your Personal Data:

(1) Right to access your Personal Data and related information;

(2) Right to rectify inaccuracies in your Personal Data;

(3) Right to withdraw consent to the processing of your Personal Data;

(4) Right to have your Personal Data deleted;

(5) Right to restrict the processing of your Personal Data;

(6) Right to data portability (i.e., the right to receive your Personal Data collected by us in a machine-readable format and to reuse it for your own purposes);

(7) Right to object to the processing of your Personal Data for our legitimate purposes;

(8) Right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling; and

(9) Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.

7. Handling of Access Information

The websites operated by us collect information related to your use thereof (hereinafter referred to as “Access Information”).

(1) Access Information includes the dates and times of your accesses, the number of accesses, your IP address, the device and browser used, the device’s OS, cookies, referrer information (referrer URL), your browsing history, the time you spent on each page, your mouse movements, etc.

(2) We use your Access Information for the following purposes:

a. To provide you with services suitable for you;

b. To provide you with information via direct mail, email, etc. within the scope of the consent obtained from you; and

c. To improve user experience and our services.

(3) Cookies are files stored on your computer used to collect standard internet log information and information on your behavior as a visitor. You can refuse to receive cookies by changing your browser settings. However, if you choose to refuse cookies, some functions of our website may not operate properly.

8. Compliance program

We have implemented a compliance program for the protection and management of Personal Data, and continually review, improve, and enhance such program.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy at any time due to changes in laws and other regulations. Except when such changes are minor or formal in nature, we will announce the content of the revised Privacy Policy and its effective date on our website. The revised Privacy Policy will take effect from the effective date.
