Japan Pediatric Society Launches New Scheme to Promote Development of Pediatric Drugs, Prevent Drug Lag

The Japan Pediatric Society (JPS) has launched a new initiative to promote the development of pediatric drugs in Japan. Drug makers will be invited to submit their overseas development plans for pediatric drugs. If a clear need is found for development in Japan as well, development requests will be issued and support will be provided to facilitate clinical studies. If the new scheme appeals to drug makers and promotes simultaneous development of pediatric drugs overseas and in Japan, it could help prevent the “drug lag” in the pediatric field ...
